andy’s in town

jackie o, chairman mao, and ingrid the nun all in one room together can only mean one thing: the memphis brooks museum’s the prints of andy warhol: from a to b and back again.  it made for an entertaining (and air-conditioned) afternoon, especially since the twin little joneses had studied pop art in school this year, and enjoyed educating me on a thing or two.  (charlie’s fave: the purple cow.)  interesting to learn that it didn’t matter to warhol that the prints were not perfect.  marilyn monroe’s lips being a little off the mark made those prints more valuable.

if i had done some planning, there would have been a little party: fun warhol-ware from plum party, placemats painted with ralph lauren’s rm#13, (silver plated) like the walls in warhol’s “factory”, mylar balloons, and party favors: the white-framed edie sedgwick sort of shades i saw at the knock-off place the other day.  (of course the menu would have involved some campbell’s soup.)

(maybe it’s not too late!  the exhibit is on until september 7th.  and if you go, don’t miss the collection of exceptionally groovy black-lite posters in the gallery down the hall.)
