come out come out wherever you are!

this shy little table was hiding under a bed in a lovely client’s home, possibly self-conscious that its veneer had sustained some unsightly water damage.  to keep the peeling under control, it had to be treated with an oil-based sealer before being painted, distressed, glazed, and sealed again to protect the new “old” finish.

now, as you know, mrs. jones strives for environmental correctness in all endeavors.  in this case, though, it seemed more pressing to save a wonderful piece of furniture from an untimely fate at the curb through the careful and proper use of alkyd products.  so here it is, before and after, with benjamin moore’s swept away (#701) on top and some little details, and white dove (oc-17) on the apron and legs.  it’s ready to go to jackson, mississippi, where a happy new life as the center of attention in a pretty breakfast room with acorn-brown walls and the palest blue ceiling awaits.
