a request from my wonderful friend and collaborator, lauren keras: could we stencil a wall with a damask motif, borrowed from her curtain fabric, to create painted headboards? of course!
first, she painted the wall, getting the green just right. then, with help from candaice and trevor at our neighborhood fedex/kinko’s, we enlarged the design on the amazing gigantic scanner machine. using big sheets of mylar (from art center) and my handy new stencil-cutting tool (featured in country living, found at michael’s) the stencil was made and applied in sections:
so far, so good. with company coming for the weekend, we had to wrap up for the day, but lauren is going to add some details and flourishes, so please check back for more photos. jane & nellie, her beautiful twins, seem to approve of the project so far.
