better than being in a box at churchill downs was a kentucky derby day dinner party given by our super-lovely friends colleen and larry capstick at her family’s beautiful antebellum farm, summer trees.  every detail was perfect, from the mint juleps right through to the croissant & white chocolate bread pudding, and mrs. jones’s friends all looked so stunning in their chapeaux!  and while none of us bet on the right horse, it was thrilling to watch a long shot make good.

(confession: naturally, my own wagers were determined based on the horse’s silks…i love seeing the post parade, and all those gorgeous colors.  

atomic rain: mrs. jones had her money on your vibrant pink and orange combination.  you looked magnificent out there.)
