you know that mrs. jones loves hearing from you, and was especially honored to receive a very kind email recently from catherine golden. her name may not be familiar to you, but you will recognize her fab home from a spread in domino….she was the very deserving bedroom makeover contest winner. she sent me photos of some of her recent projects, including a dresser onto which she had cleverly decoupaged fabric. as soon as i had secured her permission to adapt her idea, it was out the door to broom corn to grab a yard of tina givens’s extra cute cupcake medley, and then to seabrook for a pint of paint to match (benjamin moore’s teal tone, #663.)
recently, in a complex but mutually satisfying arrangement, a lovely client offered me this wonderful old chair as partial payment for a project. it was the perfect piece to try catherine’s technique on. so, here is the before & after:
(mrs. jones’s parents may not realize that along with her degree in business administration at miami university, she pursued an unofficial minor in decoupage…it was a blast to pop the top on a bottle of mod podge for the first time since then!)
(ps: this is one of the pieces that will be for sale at next week’s “le cadeau” show…details tomorrow. if you decide to take it home, i’ll sweeten the deal with a gift certificate for cupcakes from muddy’s.)

Well, that class in decoupage certainly was worth every tuition penny Bug and I were privileged to give Miami. And it is a very nice surprise to learn that you used your time to not only get your BA but have a little creative time for yourself.. Now, what else don’t we know yet?
