as you know, mrs. jones loves mylands. needing to put my hands on some of their black and raw umber tinted waxes pronto, it was close to miraculous to discover that their distribution center is here in memphis, and that the lovely gentlemen at the woodwork shop had some on hand. (they also have a popcorn machine…it might be my new favorite hangout.)

what is colored wax? i just have to know?

it’s so simple that it’s genius…wish i’d thought of it! it’s just a really high-quality paste wax with pigments mixed in, so that you can restore or add color to something while waxing it. it solves a lot of problems on old furniture, and can add depth and mellow-ness to new painted pieces. it’s one of my favorite things.
