rough drafts

a lovely, clever, practical client stopped by recently with a handful of tear sheets:

her request: give their dining room walls (now painted in a beautiful, deep gray) the same sort of feeling as one of these gorgeous gracie-, de gournay- or paul montgomery-style hand-painted wallpapers in a way that will fit their budget and their life with a precious and energetic pre-schooler.

so, here are two preliminary samples (left: tea-paper style with silver leaf…right: metallic glazes “woven” to give the feeling of the panels painted on silk) done using stencil library’s fab cherry blossom series, which happened to be here on hand.  (if approved, we’ll order the full chinese tree set – it has many more elements and details to play with.)  either treatment, once dry and sealed, will be washable…told you she was practical!  for now, we’ll wait to see which one she likes best.  and of course there will be “after” photos if the project gets the green light.
