noble old library chair

can you imagine what tales this chair – thought by my lovely client to be about 100 years old – could tell?  how many pages turned, stories told, cups of tea sipped, naps taken?  the old finish had seen better days, and so she requested layers of “aged” paint, incorporating colors from the new fabric that will soon cover it.  (benjamin moore’s woodstock tan, #hc.20, over pratt & lambert’s wild cherry, #4.19, dirtied up a little.)

here’s the before, after and details:

(while it was in progress, i caught all three of the little joneses sneaking by, gently poking the springs, and saying “boing-boing”….all three of them.  those little monkeys.  they just couldn’t resist.)

and, of course, i will try to provide an upholstered “after”.
