in transition

knowing full well that “transitional space” is architect-ese for a hallway, mrs. jones still could not resist the opportunity to join the amazing ann parker’s team for one of this year’s vesta showhomes. working with ann on the home designed by carson looney with builder jere duffy and the rest of their group was high-energy fun, and being there to see it come together this week was truly better than anything on hgtv.

ann’s vision for this particular space was a “quiet finish” to glam up the horizontal paneling. after deciding on pratt & lambert’s lambswool (#11.30) as a base color, we added layers of glazes tinted with raw umber (for depth) and modern masters’ warm silver (for a  pewter-y gleam), dragged on with a soft brush.

with great lighting, this good-looking bamboo bench, and land of plenty by tim crowder, we hope visitors will enjoy the transition.   the fantastic collection of art throughout the house is from the david lusk gallery, and includes pieces by hamlett dobbins (my fave!), alan duckworth, don estes,  lynn mccarty and jared small.  it’s all gorgeous.

Wine infused anything sounds good, I’ll need to get out to see the houses this year! I love your “quiet finish”~ it screams of Mrs.Jones!! Did you get my message about lunch next week, text me if you have an open day we could get together!
