me & mrs. jones is a diy boutique and working/teaching studio, specializing in kitting you out for home projects, especially painted furniture, walls, floors and cabinets, along with stenciling, gilding and upholstery. both our locations offer a wide selection of diy supplies, vintage furniture and fixtures, and locally-made décor and gifts. we hold weekly workshops in paint and finish techniques, and accept custom work at the midtown studio. mrs. jones’s goal is to help you elevate your domestic space while exercising your creativity, with an emphasis on environmental kindness.
stephanie jones is a painted finish artisan who has trained extensively with the best in the business, and has worked with top designers in the region on custom projects over the past 20 years, transforming clients’ walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, furniture and fixtures. mrs. jones’s work has been featured in print and online media locally, nationally, and in europe and the UK. her painted furniture enjoys pride of place in homes everywhere from los angeles to nantucket. she is the author of the recent book upstyle your furniture.
originally from chicago, she moved to memphis in 1989, and began creating painted finishes soon after. the joneses have three children, a badly-behaved little red dachshund and a very clever german short-haired pointer.
custom
mrs. jones welcomes inquiries for custom work. a discussion by telephone or e-mail to determine the feasibility and estimated cost of a project is the first step. clients may choose a finish from a library of samples, specifying their own palette and details. custom samples are produced for a small fee, which is then applied to the final project cost. work calling for materials such as custom stencils and metal leaf may require a deposit. for larger projects, a scheduling deposit is necessary to hold a particular time on the calendar. consultations for choosing paint colors and developing concepts is by appointment, by the hour. references are happily provided upon request. courtesy to the trade is gladly offered.

occasionally putting down her brushes and picking up her camera, mrs. jones has provided photographs for travel-related articles, smart-phone apps (king me and barbecue nation,) events, and two books: her own upstyle your furniture, and the explorer’s guide to tennessee by sally walker davies.

vintage furniture, fixtures and accessories, freshly finished by mrs jones and her exceedingly able staff, are available at both studio & shop locations. in addition to the full line of jolie matte decorative paint, miss mustard seed’s milk paint, modern masters’ metallics, general finishes stains, iron orchid designs embellishments, and other decorative and creative sundries, a full complement of workshops is offered. please add your name to our mailing list to stay informed on upcoming courses and events.
