while this project did, for sundry reasons, take so long that the trees actually could have grown, there is finally a finished product to show you. (unfortunately, these particular blossoms did not make the national park service’s bloom watch list. perhaps memphis is too far from washington d.c. to qualify.)
so many of you have been in touch with encouragment and kindness as progress has been posted, and i am so grateful! the final touches have been added: all the little details, the “ground”, and a final gentle burnishing and glazing to bring the shine down to a shimmer and bring everything together.
for those of you just tuning in, here is a quick re-cap: my lovely client had been hoping for a dining room wall that looks something like this particular gracie wallpaper. after considering all her options, she took a leap of faith and turned mrs. jones loose with silver leaf and stencil library’s chinese tree series. using each of the 100-plus elements allowed the trees to grow exactly where she liked. so now, finally in bloom:
and some details:
(for more photos, from the beginning, please feel free to join us on facebook for the album.)
as one final detail, she requested a little silver-gilding for the ceiling medallion. after her exceeding amounts of patience and trust, i was only too happy to oblige.

Hi – The wall treatment is absolutely stunning! You have amazing skill and patience. I just recently discovered your blog and have pretty much read every post and appreciate the information about the paint colors you use! The transformations are really something to see. I love to try to paint furniture sometimes, but the results looks nothing like yours. I wish you were in my area (Boston) as there are some mahogany chairs in my house that could sure use your magic. I have added you to my blog list and look forward to seeing more of your work. Sorry to gush…it’s just fun to see someone do something so well!

This is gorgeous! You did an amazing job and I am sure it was well worth the wait. After all, you can’t rush art! It would have been beautiful without the paint strokes but adding them in gives the wall a whole new depth and dimension. Bravo!

Have done the chinese tree in colour a while back but this is gorgeous and made me look at different options. Thanks for sharing.
