don’t be alarmed. mrs. jones does not fancy herself in the league of garance dore , scott schuman (the sartorialist), or the writers of her new favorite blog, mrs. o…she just wants to call your attention to the very nice april issue of traditional home, which features not one, not two, but three beautiful rooms with striped walls. one is wallpaper, the other two are, thrillingly, painted. (you know where this is going, don’t you?)
(from l to r: paint, hines & co.’s “palermo stripe” paper, paint.)
there was also (p. 68) a nice mention of artist julian merrow-smith, a long-time fave. but the absolute mailbox high for the week was in the march 16 new yorker…a wonderful profile of the ultimate (gentle-) “man on the street”, bill cunningham. his weekly new york times online slideshows (narrated in his inimitable new englander’s accent) along with his photos and commentary in the “styles” section, are an inspiring sunday morning treat.
