looking for inspiration, decorative arts history, and amazing photographs to swoon over? it’s all here:
highlights include gorgeous chinoiserie wallpapers (old & new), incredible stenciling of every sort (including gilt leather – oh my!) and, on page 185, a beautiful room designed by my friend john j. tackett that was – most unfortunately – not properly credited by the author. still giddy over this fabulous book, mrs. jones will reserve her theft-of-intellectual-property rant for another time.
just in case you don’t have a local bookseller who carries it, i’ve added it to the toolkit. happy reading.

I have not seen the book, but I understand one of my projects is pictured. It is a house in the Volk Estates section of University Park, Dallas, with a garden room I renovated (along with additions and improvements to the whole house). I added custom fretwork frames that I designed to create panels for the owners’ 18th century Chinese wallpaper (from the dining room of their previous house). Sadly, the design source is uncredited, I am told.

Thanks for the mention, Stephanie. You would love the whole house; there were three teams of decorative painters to do stenciled walls, furniture, etc. My clients no longer live there (Laura B. wanted it, but W. balked at the price), so I should really start featuring elements on my blog.
