in searching for an idea for a swank tv concealment device, my clever, resourceful & exceedingly lovely client clipped this from a recent issue of veranda:
her newly-remodeled living room has a more saturated color scheme, and so she requested a custom blue. after her carpenter finished…
…i mixed a blue/gray and laid it on over a ground of buff white:
a quick coat of clear wax followed by dark brown tinted wax softened up to almost a glaze-y consistency went on top:
as a final touch, a bit of gilding wax was added to the little corner medallions.

Beautiful and brilliant! I would like to do something similar as I already have a cabinet to use, but am concerned that the TV will be too low and close to the floor for good viewing….?

deborah, thank you! this clever couple had the cabinet built with an extra panel at the back for reinforcement. the tv is going to come out and up somehow on some sort of magic arm. i can’t wait to see it…hoping i get invited to their house for the super bowl!

Yes Deb’s spot on Stephanie, fabulous transformation! Have had a lovely time catching up on all your posts, it’s been too long, life is speeding along very fast here at The Hedge. I have a beautiful new grand-daughter Gracie who is divine & a newish job that’s making me very happy. Sadly there’s been little sanding & painting here during a really long miserable Winter, but Spring has sprung so out with the sandpaper & the music to sand by!
